Sermon Series
Over the past months, Pastor Scott McDermott has been presenting rich teachings
grouped into series. Below are descriptions of the series, starting with "7", the current one.
7
Who are you? Why do you do what you do? Ken Boa says, We cannot consistently behave in ways that are different from what we believe about ourselves.
Most people wander through life unaware of the life God has called them to live. Some find their identity in their profession, their achievements and how others accept them. The result? People find themselves empty and struggling. Come and join us for 7 and learn how our lives can be different when we build our identity in Christ.
This series runs January 7,8 through February 18,19.
A Study in the Book of Philippians
We no longer need to live life faster. We have already seen the negative effects of that. Getting more done, as compelling as that is, won't help us live a life of no regret. Only getting the right things done will do that. Only living life more deeply and more meaningfully will give us the deep sense of contentment God desires for us. Core 4: Real Training 4 Real Life, focuses upon 4 areas of personal growth and development: character, capability, commitment, and competence, and how your personal sense of peace can grow as you allow God to change you in each of these areas. How can I fill the gap between the person I am and the person I long to be? What skills will help me to see my present moment differently? What practices can I develop that will help me to lay hold of what God has for me?
Navigating the Storms of Life
When catastrophe strikes, we often find ourselves unsettled and unsure of God's purpose. The focus of our teaching series, Navigating the Storms of Life, is on the way God uses difficult life experiences to help make our faith richer and more meaningful. This series examines the lives of people who lived through difficult and sometimes tragic circumstances; yet through it all, their lives and faith grew stronger. We are addressing questions like, "Why did God allow this to happen to me?" "What is God teaching me?" and "Where is God when my life is falling apart?"

Acts 28: Change Your World
When Jesus called to his disciples, they responded by leaving everything to follow him. What began was a journey into the unknown, a life changing adventure that would change the world. It is doubtful that the disciples fully understood what was about to happen to them in the years ahead, the lessons they would learn, the extraordinary experiences they would have, and the power they would experience as they allowed Jesus to teach them the ways of the kingdom! His lessons are timeless. The church from the beginning was called to embody these timeless lessons and reflect the rule of God in day to day living. In this 28 week series, we shared in the disciples' stories, lives and journey, which comprised the history of the first 30 years of the church's life. Scott's prayer for us is that the seed of the examples in Acts will continue to stir our hearts into a lifetime of spiritual empowerment and impact. In the past, God has used Acts to call the church back to its destiny and purpose. May God do it again in us!
